It can be so easy to trip over the small print when seeking pet cover as an expat

    Mariana Pinero - Friday, June 26, 2020
For many of us, our pets are beloved members of the family. And if it’s the same for you, why wouldn’t you want your cat or dog to benefit from the same high standard of healthcare that you and other members of your household (hopefully) do?

Alas, if you’ve recently moved to a new country such as Spain or Portugal, you might be too overwhelmed with other responsibilities right now to be able to search high and low for reliable pet insurance info online. And of course, that assumes you’ll actually be able to understand whatever language it’s written in.

It was in order to help out expatriates in such a quandary that Ibex Insurance Services was established back in 2000. Today, we have a formidable network of more than 200 agents and brokers around the Iberian Peninsula, Mallorca and Tenerife – but also a comprehensive website that will help to answer many of your awkward questions about pet insurance.

We’ll fill in those vital gaps in your knowledge!

One reason we mentioned the ‘small print’ in the title of this blog post, is because whenever there’s a language barrier – and sometimes, even when there isn’t – small print can so often be the cause of expatriate pet owners ending up with a policy that doesn’t meet all of their needs.

So, we take pride in providing our entire service in plain English! That includes not just when you call, email or visit one of our local offices, but also on our website, where we provide a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) page and policy documents to give you a better idea of what to expect from pet cover obtained through us.

And of course, we also provide a handy summary of cover on the website, so that you can easily review what you will receive from a Bronze, Silver or Gold pet insurance policy. But with even the ‘entry-level’ Bronze cover protecting you for the likes of boarding fees, loss from theft and death from accident, as well as €2,000 in vets’ fees, you won’t necessarily need to pay much for impressively far-reaching pet insurance.

Finally, once you feel sufficiently informed, you might take the step of simply requesting a quote from us. Here at Ibex, we aren’t just a great source of pet insurance info online – we’re also a great source of the pet insurance itself, and regardless of how long you’ve lived in Spain, Portugal or Gibraltar, you can count on us supporting you every step of the way.
