This Halloween, there can be few scarier things than lacking the right residency health plan!

    Hanushka Karnani - Monday, October 26, 2020

While those with a more macabre sense of humour might suggest we hardly needed Halloween in order to make 2020 any more terrifying, the return of this great celebration presents the team here at Ibex Insurance Services with the opportunity to make a slightly more serious point.

Whether you have only just arrived in Spain or you have been an expatriate here for rather longer, the chances are that you will be learning something every day about what makes this wonderfully sun-drenched and culturally diverse part of Europe so interesting.

It’s a similar situation when it comes to Halloween. Halloween is celebrated differently in different parts of Spain, and certainly isn’t lifted wholesale from what Halloween means to the average American – never mind the typical resident of any other European nation. Indeed, the Halloween customs and rituals commonly seen in Spain tend to more closely resemble those of Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries.

But what does all of this have to do with medical insurance?

We’ll get to that bit! You see, just as Halloween doesn’t take the same form in Spain as it might do in the part of the world you originally came from, so it’s important not to apply the same assumptions to your healthcare situation here that you may have done in your previous home nation.

The task of comparing and selecting from the various medical plans for residency in Spain is a great example of this. While you will naturally wish to ensure your chosen health insurance actually caters to your health needs whenever you need to call upon it, if you are looking to purchase medical cover in order to obtain residency or a TIE, it will need to be a particular level of cover.

In much the same way as you could commit a cultural faux pas if you attempt to celebrate Halloween in Spain as if you were in the United States or the United Kingdom, so you need to understand the specifics when it comes to valid medical plans for residency in Spain.

It might not have crossed your mind, for example, that not all Spanish medical plans even give protection in every Spanish province. And did you know that for your health insurance to be acceptable for securing residency or a TIE, it must have zero excess or co-payments?

Request your quote today… or even speak to us in person!

Here at Ibex, we don’t want you to experience any greater frights this Halloween than the ones you’ll want to experience! So, please don’t hesitate to complete and submit our health insurance quote form to begin the process of obtaining a highly competitive medical plan that will serve your residency needs as well as it does your health ones.

Alternatively, why not call us on our general Spain number of 900 102 527, or locate your nearest Ibex office for an in-person visit? Whatever your favored way of making contact with us, we’ll be pleased to guide and inform you on all of the essential elements of medical plans for residency in Spain, in addition to arranging the policy that will leave you with the utmost peace of mind.
