Travel Insurance FAQ's
A Trip is any holiday (including a cruise holiday), leisure or business trip within the geographical region shown on your Policy Documentation which begins and ends in your Country of Residence (unless a one way trip) for which you have paid the appropriate premium.
Cover for all trips begins when you leave your home address in your home country and ends when you return to your home address.
Our Ibex travel policy is designed for residents of Gibraltar, Portugal and Spain and so your travel must start and end from that residence. For one-way trips cover will end upon expiry of the policy or when you leave immigration in your final ticketed and declared destination. For UK, other EU and EEA residents you can Click to Buy.

31 days with Standard cover.
45 days with Super and Super Plus covers. Within the Super and Super Plus covers you have the option to extend your trip to a maximum of 60 days (max. age 79) or 90 days per trip (max. age 65).
Yes. You may extend your period of insurance on an incremental continuous basis whilst you are on a trip upon notification to your intermediary and written confirmation from Ibex Customer Services (after referral to us) provided that a claim does not exist and your period of insurance has not expired. In no event can the total duration of cover including any extensions exceed 180 days.
Yes, you can upgrade your policy prior to departure but you cannot reduce coverage in return for a partial refund.
If cover has not commenced we can also cancel policies without charge and create a new policy, subject to confirmation that no incidents have arisen up to that point which could give raise to a claim.

Cancellations are not available on single trip policies. As stated above, if cover has not commenced we can cancel the policy without charge and create a new policy, subject to confirmation that no incidents have arisen up to that point which could give raise to a claim.
Annual Multi Trip:
A refund of premium will be subject to a deduction for the amount of time you have been covered. Subject to point ii) below, this will be calculated in accordance with the following scale:
ii) Any applicable refund is provided subject to you having not travelled, no claim has been made or is intended to be made and no incident likely to result in a claim has occurred and the Policy has not expired.
Not for residents of Gibraltar. Residents of Portugal and Spain are covered but must have pre-booked and pre-paid accommodation for one night or more that is at least 80km away from your home.
Yes. Some tour operators may request sight of the policy schedule. You should always keep the 24 hour emergency assistance number to hand.
Yes. All our policies include repatriation cover. The decision to repatriate is taken by the emergency assistance service.
Any claim which relates either directly or indirectly to the excluded medical condition will not be covered. Cover remains in place for any other unrelated insurance claim.
*COVID-19 statement
Our policies will no longer provide cover for claims directly or indirectly related to a pandemic and/or epidemic, notably at this time Coronavirus (COVID-19) including any related and/or similar condition(s) howsoever called or any mutation of these.
This policy will also not provide cover claims relating to the fear or threat of pandemic and/or epidemic, including but not limited to Coronavirus (COVID-19) including any related and/or similar condition(s) howsoever or any mutation of these.
This general exclusion applies to all sections of cover with the exception of Section 3 – Emergency Medical Expenses and Repatriation as long as, prior to your trip commencing, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office had NOT advised against all (but essential) travel to your intended destination.
